Ignatius of Loyola (Monday) founded the Society of Jesus, better known as the Jesuits in response to the Protestant Reformation of the sixteenth century. Oswald of Northumbria (Saturday) invited St Aidan to set up his missionary monastic community on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne in the seventh century.
