Ride and Stride day, the day for visiting churches and raising sponsorship money for the Shropshire Historic Churches Trust, was on Saturday 9th September. Unfortunately, I was conducting a wedding that day, so couldn’t do the pilgrimage walk around the churches in our benefice on that day. No problem, though – we set it for Friday instead.
Four of us plus one dog (joined by one more plus dog for the last section) started from Cleeton St Mary, and walked from there to Silvington, Farlow, Stottesdon, Sidbury and finished at Middleton Scriven. In each church we filled in the R and S sign-in sheet and read one of the Psalms of Ascent.
My thanks to Diana, Ellen and Nigel (and Merry) for keeping me company on the pilgrimage; to Ann (and Ella) for joining us at Sidbury; to Yvonne, who kidnapped us for a coffee break in Farlow; to Alex who provided us with lunch in Stottesdon; and to Stella who greeted us with tea at Middleton at the end.
And also, of course, to all who have contributed sponsorship money for this very worthwhile cause.
